Enhancement of my storyboard set after Virtual Session 2

During Virtual Session 2, I got feedback from my professor and colleagues. I am very grateful to their help. They elicit lots of ideas for me to think about.

After the web conference, I was very frustrated because I didn't illustrate my ideas very well to my colleagues and professor. The design of my workshops are the flipped classrooms but I didn't mention it in my context or overview. So first of the first, I added the training session design in my overview,“To help all the teachers to immerse into the real authentic learning settings—the flipped classrooms, the flipped classroom model will be used for the training sessions. ”

I am wondering, how can I make the training more meaningful and intriguing? I still remember in the reading there are some strategies about how to design effective activities. I think the activities I design for the training sessions should be based on an authentic context reflect the way in which the information being learnt is

actually used in the teaching process, and provides some samples how teachers help the students with tasks or problems that have real world relevance.

I started to read my storyboard set again sentence by sentence. This design is especially for my colleagues in my former school. All the teachers there have special characteristics I need to mention it in the context.

During the Virtual Session 2, I introduced my storyboard unit based on the purpose and the flow of lesson. I shared my thoughts and details with everyone. MaryAnn asked me about the debate. She would like me to explain more about what it is going on and if there are interactions among the teachers. She thought this was an interesting design and all the teachers could think of the flipped classroom model in both ways.

Garmondyu was thinking about the long introduction. I explained that I couldn't cut it into shorter session. I designed abundant activities for this part.

Our professor told me to scaffold the activities provided for the teachers and asked me to think about the duration of the speaker's lecture and the demo class. They are 80 minutes going on. That's a lot of time. There will be more sitting and listening. If I designed some hand-on activities, that would be better. She said I need to think about how to encourage all the teachers to interact this new way of teaching. After that , they will think about that and have confidence to do it in their own classroom.Try to start doing something small. I think the feedback is very reasonable, and I reduced the 3 sessions to 280 minutes and I focused on the demo class for the second session.

Later, I got feedback from my professor from Blackboard. There are more problems about the objectives in my storyboard. What's worse, I lost 10 points. I was so sad.

I will think more tomorrow and talk with my professor Rob for some feedback because his class is typically a flipped class. I believe I will improve the quality of my storyboard set greatly with my endless effort.
