This whole morning, I only read sample online case study storyboards. I have been reading and thinking for a long time like the people in the following picture because the first sample is the worst sample I have ever seen.
Sample 1-Ice Cream Sundae Instruction case
To tell you the truth, this sample is the worst sample I have ever seen. There are problems in different aspects:
FORMAT
1 According to the format, stakeholders should not be included in the summary page in that way, we just need a list of stakeholders.
2 The storyboard is like a journey. Design is very important, it should be effective and concise. This storyboard is long and pointless.
3 After reading the storyboard, we cannot find the outcomes.
4 No assessment to evaluate whether this instructional unit is successful or not.
CONTENT
1 The background is not necessary in writing storyboards.
2 The resources are not complete, we only know the places for the training.
3 Performance problem is not necessary in writing storyboards.
4 We are not clear about the training format, is it online, hybrid or face-to-face training?
5 The duration is infinite, no strict restriction.
6 Poor graphics. We can't get the quick idea about what each storyboard is about.
7 The layout of the training area is not necessary.
8 The environment is elaborated but not concisely.
As for the second sample, it is the good example that we need to follow.
It includes appropriate pictures, activity title, duration, purpose, context, overview, expected outcomes, resources, facilities, stakeholders, flow of lesson. For each storyboard, we can clear see the course title, Activity title. proper graphics, notes, duration, instructional activity description, activity deliverables/ outcomes. resources required, key learning outcomes, key content points.
When I develop my storyboard, I will include all the components, choose appropriate graphics and design a vivid flow chart to support the overall purpose of the instruction.
